If you host a website and someone is interested in putting up ads on it, how does the financial element work? Do they pay per click? Also, what is a good estimate for how much money could potentially be made this way?

My understanding is its like comercials on TV. The advertiser pays to have their ad show up. The amount is based on how popular the site is.
